Oooo...I'm curious too! I'm not an e-reader myself, but it will be interesting to see how it all pans out. :) Keep me posted!

Oops, here are my non-e-reader answers:
1. I don't want one. It's not the price that sways me, I just love having an actual book in my hands.
2.D
3.D - They're cool and I have a lot of friends who really utilize them, especially during business trips and such. Maybe I'm old fashioned, but I don't want to pipe all of my brain cells into a computer screen, ya know? I love books...what can I say!

Non-E-reader here:
1. Not really. But if I had to pick--Kindle

2. E. I get so sick of technology worship. I guess I'm just old fashioned.

3. D. I do think they can be handy, on a plane, at the beach, etc...

4. I love books. I want to hold them, smell them, line them up by genre on my book shelf. What would happen in a disaster if we didn't have power and you couldn't charge your Kindle. I'll tell you. You would all come over to my house to borrow books :)

One last thought. I would buy a Kindle just so I could read all the books that are only out on ebook.

Non-Ereader
1. If I were to get one, I would probably want a Kindle.
2. A-Too expensive
3. D-They serve a great purpose, but aren't necessary for life.
4. Ereaders are like Ipods and smart phones, unnecessary but conveniant advances in technology that can be enjoyed but aren't needed to get by.

1.What type of E-Reader do you own?
C. Kobo

2. What sort of material do you read on it?
A. Novels

3. Where do you use it?
A. At home
B. While traveling

4. What do you like about it the most?
E. Other--I enjoy being able to get ePubs from my local library without leaving home. Just last night, 3 ebooks I was waitlisted for became available at the same time and all I had to do was plug in my ereader and boom, I had those books, no traveling required! Also, I enjoy being able to read e-galleys for book reviews, since they're more readily available than ARCs

5. What don't you like about it?

I love mine. No complaints.

6. Any other thoughts?

Only that paper books never run out of batteries or break...so, no matter the prevalence of e-anything right now, paper isn't going away any time soon. The people who are addicted to books (ME!) are also addicted to the weight, feel, experience of physically reading that book. I don't care what the Kindle commercials say. I love the convenience of my reader, but it's a supplement, not a replacement for paper books.

Non eReader

1. No, I don't want one.

2. E and F. I love walking into a bookstore and browsing the shelves. I love the smell of a book, the way the pages feel between your fingers when you turn the page, the way it feels to look across the living room and see shelves full of books.

3. C ... I already spend enough time on the laptop, don't need another screen to stare at for hours on end.

4. I'm sure that technology will eventually overwhelm me and the rest of the world who still clings to the traditional book format, but until books are no longer printed on paper, I'll keep supporting my local bookstore the old fashioned way.

Questions for E-Reader owners:

1.A: I LOVE my Kindle. :)

2. A. Novels and F. Books I beta for my crit partners and my own WIP's when I'm reading through my final drafts.

3. A and B I use it at home the most.

4. All of the above. I do love my hardcovers, but I love my Kindle just as much. :)

5. I love it.

6. I haven't had my Kindle very long, but I love all of the features it has. Especially downloading my WIP's to it to give it a real "book" feel. I can spot so many mistakes this way. And it's easier for me to Beta read on it as well. If I'm pressed for time. :) I love my Kindle and I love my paper books. I'll never stop buying hardcovers, since I'm a little obsessed, but I do love being able to buy e-books on my Kindle. Especially ones you can't find in stores. As long as I can read, it doesn't matter how I read them!

I'm a non-e-reader owner:

2. E. Everything doesn't have to be electronic

3. A. They are pretty cool

4. I love the idea of an e-reader (and I am NOT anti-e-reader) but I am very attached to physical books. I feel too plugged in lately. I don't need another device. I don't need any more screen time.

E-Reader owner :)

1.What type of E-Reader do you own? B. Nook (choose it over the Kindle because I can get library books on it)

2. What sort of material do you read on it? A. Novels & B. Nonfiction

3. Where do you use it? A. At home (mostly) - B. While traveling - D. Other - I drop it in my purse whenever I leave the house.

4. What do you like about it the most? A. Easy to use - B. Convenient/Travel sized - C. Cost effective - D. Modern - E. Other - Green - I can get books instantly without leaving the comfort of my home. - I can adjust the font size which is awesome when my eyes are tired but I still want to read.

5. What don't you like about it? E. Other - battery life is good but sometimes I wish it were better. I love reading the bath and don't feel comfortable doing that with the Nook.

6. Any other thoughts? My Nook has the E-ink which makes it like reading paper, need decent lighting etc. and I don't get the glare of a computer-like screen.

All that being said, I'm picky about the e-books I pay for because I don't have the same rights (resale, trade, gift, etc.) to an e-book as a paper book. I refuse to pay more than paperback price for an e-book. For example, if a book is available in e-format and paperback for the same price, I will buy the paperback.

I love reading. I love having books around me. Even with an e-reader, I still like going to a bookstore or library to browse and read.

I own a Nook.
I read mostly books --- I've considered getting a magazine or the Reader's Digest --- but I've read some bad reviews --- so I hesitate! I've gotten on the Internet a few times --- checked my FB account, ect.
I use it at home, while traveling, in waiting rooms, ect. My 14 year old grandson also uses it -- ALOT! He reads about 2 books a week now!
I especially love that I can SEE the words!
I love that I can get another book as soon as I'm finished with the one I was reading -- without leaving my home!
I always have the top 100 Best Sellers at my convenience.
There are thousands of books available --- and many for as little as 99 cents!
Some say they like the feeling of 'holding' a book. I don't see a difference here. The Nook in my hands feels just like I'm holding a book.
I love that I don't have a million books laying around -- that I don't have the heart to get rid of. I can store them on my Nook!
I find I'm reading ALOT more --- now that I can see the words! That could be my most favorite thing about my Nook!
There's really nothing I don't like. With as much as the Nook is used, I think the battery does a great job!
My sister has a Kindle and I'm not impressed. It seems almost outdated compared to my Nook.
I'm in my early 60's and I'm not at all good with modern technology --- but with very little practice --- I've seemed to master the Nook with little to no trouble. I don't know how we've lived without it actually! Its the greatest invention since the telephone!

1. A. Kindle

2. A. Novels, B. Nonfiction

3. A. At home, B. While traveling, C. Waiting rooms, D. Other: waiting while not in rooms, while walking (discovered it fits perfectly in my stroller's parent tray just yesterday), while exercising, EVERYWHERE. (I've had it for 11 months, but developed an addiction in the last 3 or so.)

4. B. Convenient/size, C. Cost effectiveness (i.e. lots of free books), A. Easy to use, D. Modern, E. Other: I'm glad that they've added lending and will (allegedly) soon add library loaning.

5. D. Other: it was a lot of money, but sunk cost. I don't like file format inconsistencies, page scaling on PDFs (though it's not a huge problem).

6. Any other thoughts? I love the availability of free fiction from publishers who've really "gotten" it.

1A Kindle on my phone and a kindle ap for my home computer too (they share the same book archive so I can read them either way)
2A Novels and B Nonfiction
3 Seriously everywhere!
4 quick way to get a book, size to carry around, it's already in my purse, free and inexpensive books
5 it's a free ap on my phone (android) and it was a free ap on my computer (I have links on my computer to get it free for PC or Mac at http://candamortensen.blogspot.com )
6 I still love books and can be found at Barnes and Noble on Tuesday nights when the new releases come out, but I get a lot of ebooks too. I like both!

I think e-readers are the greatest invention! As a writer & environmentalist, they're a dream come true! I use the Kindle for novels; I take it everywhere, because they're convenient. – brokensimmy.blogspot.com.
