Random Ramblings—Book Contest

I collect hard back books. Since starting this blog I’ve realized that not everyone loves them like I do. They look so pretty on a shelf and they hold up nice to lots of re-readings, but...

Packing them across the country is a pain! I think I had over 30 boxes of books. I’ve gotten them all unpacked now and they look so beautiful in my new bookshelf.

So in celebration of my move, one year of blogging, and reaching 300 followers (when I wasn’t looking) I wanted to have a little contest.

Here is a picture of one of my book shelves (I have seven bookshelves total, but not this big). Whoever can name the most titles from this book shelf wins a $25 Amazon gift card :) Easy right?

Okay here are a few rules
  1. Don’t cheat. Lots of you are my friends on Goodreads. Don’t go see what books I own. Just remember they might not be in this book shelf anyway.
  2. That is it. I have no other rules :)

So leave your list in the comments. I’ll keep the contest open until August 10th. I’m excited to see if you can guess the books from the spines. This should be a little bit hard.

Good luck!
-Angie

Here is a little different angle...

I see the Harry Potter Series, Twilight Series and Eragon Series (Though I don't think that's it's official series title... haha)

The top right looks like The Pillars of Earth and World Without End by Ken Follet, but it might not be :) haha

I see The Harry Potter series of course! The Children of the Promise series, Twilight series, Inheritance series, Hunger Games series, The Host, Matched series, Goose Girl series, Book of a Thousand Days, Janitors?, Possession? Princess Academy, Mazerunner, Narnia, I want to say a Fablehaven, but not sure... Anyway, lots of awesome books! I know most of those ones because my bookshelf looks the same! LOL :D And I'm a sucker for a hardcover. :)

Well I think Chantelle is going to win this one! I recognized the Twilight series and the Harry Potter series. I think I see the Belgariad series, is that right? And it's driving me crazy that I can't figure out what the books on the right, second from the bottom, are because I know I know those books!

I shall bow my head in shame. I mainly see the Harry Potter books along the bottom of the shelf, I think lol!!!

I'm drooling over your bookshelf. Me want!

Okay, Twilight (which I'll include the story of Bree), HP, and Hunger Games (might as well get those out of the way.) Eragon (or however you spell it.) Matched, Crossed, Possession all right there by HG. Looking for your Fablehavens because that would be blasphemous if you don't own those... I don't see them. That could be them on the bottom, but the colors don't look right. Goosegirl is up there. Also looks like you have a collection of classics... which I'll take a guess including Jane Austen's work. Narnia, LOTR (I think, including Hobbit) World History! (Cuz I can see the title, lol) Okay, some like those House of Night books, but I don't think that's right. I'm pretty sure I see the family scriptures. Looks like you have Beyonders. Princess Academy. Please tell me you have Mazerunner... looking... I think I see it.

Okay, I think I've hurt my head enough this morning, haha!

I see... The Help...the twilight series, Matched, Crossed, Possession, the Hunger Games series, Is that the Golden Compass series next to the Harry Potter series? A Tale of Two Cities... Maybe the Lord of the Rings series, Eragon, Chronicles of Narnia, maybe the Da Vinci Code. I think I see Veronica Roth's Divergent. I'm dying to know what that rainbow colored collection is on the right. It looks like a classics collection. I'm gonna say it's a Jane Austen Collection. I don't know, you seem like a Jane Austen girl. I also see The Book Thief on the lower right! AHH! This is so fun.

Fun giveaway! Unfortunately my eyesight totally sucks right now. I doubt I'll beat any one else's score, but I have to say, your shelf looks amazing. I just wish you lived closer so I could borrow a book... or five. :)

I'll try not to cheat off your other followers by reading their posts. ;)

I recognize the Harry Potter series, the Twilight series, the Eragon series, and a few other series I know I've seen before but can't quite put my finger on. (Hate it when that heppens!) Fun contest!

Ooh, fun! Um, Twilight series, Inheritance series, Harry Potter series, is that the Golden Compass series next to it?, The Hunger Games series, Chronicles of Narnia, I think I see the Goose Girls series or at least one(I see the purple one), is that that Crossed/Matched series?, The Book Thief, I think those books under the award thing there are classics? Like, Alice in Wonderland, Edgar Allan Poe , Jane Austen sort of stuff?, one says World History, maybe Lord of the Rings but I don't know, Book of a Thousand Days, the type of religious books/scriptures that my mom keeps (which I love to look at, but they're hard to read), maybe Foundling by DM Cornish?, I think I've seen those rainbow-books in the fiction section of my church's library, the two at the end near Inheritance looks like a couple from the Goblin Wars series, or perhaps Redwall, but I'm not sure.

I've run out (finally). This was a lot harder than I thought. Thank you for the challenge!! :) I doubt I'll win it, but that's okay.

Hardbacks are the best kind of book in my opinion. But I stopped buying them a long time ago because (as you've said) they are heavy. When I buy a house (which hopefully will be soon), I think I'll look to turning a room into a library of sorts. Then I'll collect hardbacks here and there I think.

I prefer paperbacks. I can cram more of them onto my shelves.
And you have seven bookshelves? Seven! I need those shelves!

Okay, let me see. There's ...
The Help, Beauty, Twilight Series, East, Matched, Crossed, Possession, Hunger Games Series, A Tale of Two Cities, World History, Genius, Golden Urchin, LotR, The Hobbit, David Edding's Belgariad and Mallorean Series, Shadow Puppets, Chronicles of Narnia, the Inheritance Series, HP Series, Golden Compass Series, The Lost Symbol, Speaker for the Dead ...
Life of PI? Stranger at Wildings? Everneath? Paranormalcy? Variant? Ender's Game?
It looks like there's a few more by Orson Scott Card but I can't make out the titles.

Haha, I'm not going to try. Did we all start our blogs around this time last year? I swear you and Peggy and Jessie were all so well established by the time I started mine. Oh and congrats on 300 followers!!

Ha, all I recognize are HP and Twilight. Congrats on all the milestones though! I really want your awesome bookshelf...but mostly for my music collection, ha!

Gorgeous bookcase and awesome collection!

I recognized all of the Harry Potters...but that was obvious, right? I accidentally cheated and saw where Rachel spotted the Twilight books in the comments, so I can't count those. Hmmm...a whole shelf of classic looking spines...so let's say, Wuthering Heights, Pride an Prejudice and an assortment of books English teachers suggest as good reading.

I'm totally not gonna win this, but I think you might have an Anne of Green Gables set. I also see The Actor and the Housewife. I don't think those have been mentioned yet. :)

Wow. I wish I had a bookshelf/wall like that. Beautiful.

I am one of those people who hate hardcovers. They're too darn heavy and I don't like holding them. Paperbacks are much better.

Great bookshelf, really pretty! As far as naming books go, I'll do my best.

The first thing I noticed was all four twilight books, they kind stand out.

Next I noticed The Goose Girl, Enna Burning, Forest born, and River Secrets.

Oh! there's The Help :)

Matched and Crossed, the hunger Games trilogy. Looks like Possession is on the same shelf.

Everneath looks lovely. I see all seven Harry Potter books along with Narnia.

I'm taking a shot in the dark and saying you have an encyclopedia set and a dictionary.

I wish I knew what all the books are with the faces on the spine. I feel like I should know :(

There's a book called World History :)

Ugh this is hard. I swear I know more I just can't see them. I'm going to take one more guess then I'll be done. You have the Fable Haven series? and also Other Shannon Hale books like princess academy and book of a thousand days? Okay I'm done trying. This was a fun challenge :)

I came back for a second look - to see if sleep makes your vision clearer, which I hope you don't think is cheating, but curiosity itches at my brain - and I think I see Anne Perry's Sheen on the Silk, as well as possibly Time Stops for No Mouse (in the first pic of your bookshelves at an angle). Also Anne of Green Gables. Is those books under the Twilight series those Twilight asides, like The Secret Life of Bree Tanner?

Do you not have Artemis Fowl?! :O I can't see them anywhere.

Uhh, that's it. Sleep doesn't help very much. Sorry, challenges itch at me. (I honestly don't care about the gift card. It's driving me crazy not knowing what those stacked up books next to the Harry Potter series is. Or the rainbow ones. Or that one next to Narnia, which I swear I've seen before.)

I'm done now. Carry on. :)

OK, at first I thought you were giving away a box of books! Still an awesome prize, though :D

So, Twilight series, HP series. Narnia in one volume. The Help. Beauty. East (?) Matched. Crossed. Possession. Hunger Games series. Some classic looking ones which I'll guess will include some Dickens, Austen, Bronte? OK, you've def got A Tale of Two Cities. World History. LOTR and The Hobbit. Shadow Puppets. Books by David Edwards?? (Prob got that wrong.) Eragon series. Belgariad series. 1776. Genius. Golden Urchin. Great collection!
