Summer Fact or Fiction Part Two

I’m having so much fun with this blogfest. You guys have made it all really hard. Here is my next one…short and sweet :)

In the Water
The water in the gulf is as balmy as a bathtub—perfect for swimming.
But the waves are too small, and my boys stand knee deep in the warm salty water with boogie boards in hand and disappointment on their faces.
“It will still be fun,” I say, lifting my giggling daughter over every wave. “You can swim.”
My oldest rolls his eyes. I ignore him. If I responded to every eye roll I’d never get anything done.
“Come on, dude.” My middle son motions for his older brother to follow
“Fine,” he answers and they both paddle on their boards out further from the shore.
I’m still lifting a laughing seven year old over waves when I hear the boys yell.
            “Mom! Mom! Look!”
By Chris Haugen
I turn my head just in time to see the first fin break the surface of the water right next to my boys.
I guess tiger sharks like the warm gulf water too.

Hehehehe :) Fun times.

I'd be freaking if that were me. Those sharks are deadly (or so I have read).

I would be screaming in terror if I saw one of those in the water with my kids . . .and I think this one is true . . but you made it tough, so I'm just guessing.

Shark dodging vs. wave jumping...hmm.

I'm hoping this one is fiction, because sharks freak me out!

oh, and fact.

Serious eek!

My grandpa used to scuba dive, and he encountered quite a few sharks. I think this one is true.

Ohh! I don’t know, but since I already voted… =) I’ll just have to wait and see.

I'm thinking....hmm...false? And the first is true.

Yep, that's my answer and I'm sticking with it.

Dang, I think I'm wrong. Oh well!

shark tale is false, first is true...my humble guess, from someone who lived in fl for 12 years =)

True! Get your kids out of the water, stat. :)

You just gave me an idea for my second fact or fiction story. Sharks are terrifying, but I am going to have to vote truth (fact) for this one. We spend most of our summers in either Destin, Florida or at my parents summer home on the beach in Perdido Key, and I can attest that it is not uncommon to see sharks a long the Gulf of Mexico.

I'm gonna say this one is false and the first is true. Only because I *have* seen sharks in the ocean swimming by me and "Hehehehe" would not be how I'd end an email about it. :)

I will reserve my judgement until all 3 have been posted. If this is true, I am shakin' in my Boots.

I agree with the boys about the ugly gulf water! I'm also awaiting to see if this is true.

Yikes. My guess: fact

Hmmm. I'm going with this one being false, the first lollipop one true.
Eep!

I think this one is true. I bet your kids were excited, maybe freaked out, but what a great story. If this is false and I'm wrong, you should really tell your kids you fooled me with this story.

I think this one is true and the first was fiction.

OMG Talk about freaking out. I'd say this is true, but I still need to read the other one. :D

I'm going to say fiction and the first was fact. I lived on the Gulf (in Mississippi) for 4 years. We never saw any sharks, but definitely played in that bathwater warm water. And yeah, not much point in boogie boards--waves, waves, where are you?

I can't remember exactly what I said on the first story, but I'm going to say first is fact this one is fiction.

Great post! I would be scared too in that ocean with tiger sharks in it -- I would probably run away right away if I would see one of those sharks! ;)
