On the ebb of NaNoWriMo I decided to follow the example of that sage old bear, Winne the Pooh, and find my thoughtful spot. November has come up quickly and ready or not ... here it is. So before sheer panic sets in, I've made the conscious choice to step back a bit, try to breathe in and out and just "be" for a moment.
My Thoughtful Spot isn't necessarily a place. Today, for instance, my thoughtful spot was watching my girls play in a pile of leaves with their favorite Aunt Sarah. Two days ago, it was looking at the moon (nothing makes me feel so small, and yet so empowered as watching our little corner of the cosmos). What is your thoughtful spot? Or moment? What helps you clear your mind and regulate your breathing a bit? Is it a song? A place? A food? A memory?
Good luck to all you NaNo's out there. I'm jumping in as well and hope, along with Angie, to come out 50,000 words further than I am today! :)

Like you my Thoughtful Spot changes. Yesterday it was watching the wee beasties in the Halloween parade at school. Still looking for today's, LOL
Beautiful post for this first day of November.
This was a good reminder for me to take those few moments and breathe. I always feel better when I take some time to read, whether it's a book or a magazine. I usually feel centered and more like myself when I'm done. :)
Good luck with NaNo!
My thoughtful "spot" is often found after the kids and hubby go to bed. Where I can enjoy some peace and quiet or listen to some inspiring music.
Good luck Nanoing!
I weather today is perfect at my house :) The rain always makes me feel thoughtful and creative.
Good luck :) Can't wait to read your stuff.
Sara, my thoughtful spot is in a bag of Godiva chocolates. : )
Thanks for the well-wishes. Good luck with your NaNo!
good luck to all!
My thoughtful place is usually when I'm curled up on the couch with a glass of wine and something soothing playing in the background, like the Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon soundtrack.
Good luck to all NaNoers! Let's NaNo away!!
Hope you have an awesome NaNo experience!
Break a leg... or is it a pencil?
Good luck with NaNo! My thoughtful spot used to be out by Antelope Island. I would park somewhere by the lake and sit in my car, eat Mexican food and just think.
My thoughtful spot is more a feeling of nostalgia rather than a place. When I feel that way I am open to appreciating things more for some reason no matter where I am.
I posted last month that I love rusty falling down sheds and houses, they send my creative thoughts wild!
Other than that ... sometimes I walk from my computer to make a cuppa in a thoughtful daze.
Happy NaNoing, hope you reach 50000 without too much fuss.
x
Good luck!
Thoughtful spots are hard to find - glad you found one today :)
Best of luck to you both!
Hey you're in NaNowrimo too! I have joined this year and it's my first time. I actually decided to write about my progress in my blog. :) good luck!
Good luck with NaNo! My thoughtful spots are varied: sometimes it's a nap or watching a show with my hubby or just sitting and doing nothing as I observe my kids playing. Great post.
Good luck with the NaNo! I write PB -- can't imagine getting my mind around a novel. My thoughtful space is sitting on my deck and listening to nature. :)
