Words of Wisdom

My brain is kind of mushy today so instead of something “writerly” I thought I would share something “wise.”

So here are a few words of wisdom from my kids :) Everyone take notes.

  • “It’s okay you are mad all the time Mom. We love you anyway.”
  • “All I know is that I’m not going to be hunting ostriches anytime soon.”
  • “You can never have too much pizza, but you can definitely have too much peanut butter!”
  • “I always think I’m taller than people, but it turns out there are a lot of people taller than me.”
  • “I like to try new things…except for beans. I wish beans were expensive.”
  • "Mom, do you get fatter every birthday?" (I did find out that by "you" he meant all people :)
  • "You can't expect us to help EVERYDAY!" (Oh yes I can. Insert maniacal laughter here)

I try and keep track of the things my kids say. I never know when they will spout off something profound, and hey, maybe there is a book in there somewhere :)

What about you—what “wise” things do your kids say?

LOL! These are awesome comments. I'm so glad you shared. My son has been telling me this a lot lately: "Mom, you only grow taller until you're 18, then you just grow out or in." lol. Oh gosh - kids are funny.

Love it! Sometimes all it takes to turn your day around is a funny expression from your child. I love when my kids make me laugh!

Truly words of wisdom and out of the mouths of babes. These are hilarious. My son was always so honest. I gave many communication lessons on what is better left unsaid or worded differently. He's 22 and hasn't stopped saying exactly what he thinks.

I can't think of any words of wisdom, unless you count my daughter telling me a chicken looks like a bird. Last year though, she came home from school with a picture she had drawn. I asked her who she had drawn and she said it was a picture of her naked.
Seriously? What 4-year old would think to draw that?
She then told me her teacher told her to draw whatever she wanted and that is what she chose. I was freaking out, thinking the teacher thought I was teaching her less than appropriate things! Her teacher is a good friend of mine though, so she just laughed. She's never drawn a picture of herself naked since. Hopefully never again! LOL

Abby - "out or in" that is so true :)

Stacy - My kids make me laugh everyday.

Brinda - I hope my kids still say funny stuff when they are 22.

Chantele - My kids draw crazy stuff too. I'm waiting for a call for DCFS some day.

Those are hilarious! My oldest told me yesterday that I'm not allowed to have another baby because I can't handle it. That's a pretty big dis from a six-year-old. : )

You don't know how much I love this. By the way, I'm very glad you can't have too much pizza. I was getting worried there. I better cut down on my peanut butter intake.

Emily - I've realized that kids are not always good for our self esteem.

Melissa - The pizza thing is a truth not many people know :)

Tara - Mad Maniacal Moms Unite!

Shallee - When he said that he was on the phone with his dad, and I couldn't figure out what my hubby could have said to prompt that response :)

You gotta love the wisdom of the little ones. One of my favorite stories is when I couldn't get my youngest to put his underwear on the right way--it was always backwards. I tried to turn it around one morning and he freaked out, saying "MOM!!! Spongebob needs to see where he's going." I had not thought of that.
