I’ve always loved poetry :) From Where the Sidewalk Ends to The Lady of Shalott. I love the motion of the words and the way they feel spoken aloud.
Shelly Brown is hosting a poetry blogfest and I thought—how fun! So here is my original poem. I wrote it as an introduction to my second WIP.
Entwined in conflicting embrace,
Joy and sorrow weave through our lives,
A thread of darkness and light.
Brave is the soul that grabs hold
And finds sweetness in both.
Thanks for reading and any thoughts :)

I've always thought that the mark of a good poem was like a reverse Warhead candy: subtle and sweet and then a good sting at the end.
^ There's that mark. (:
Wow! Powerful words. Thanks for sharing! I love it. Seriously.
Hi,
Oh very nice twist on fate and taking it as it comes!

Beautiful! And I, also, love the Lady of Shalott.
Wonderful poem! :)
love it! you definitely got the rhyming gene in the family.. I can only rhyme potty words...
now that i look back at your poem, i realize that it didnt rhyme... maybe we do have equal talent.
Great imagery! This blogfest is so fun. :)
I like the "conflicting embrace" image - and the thought of finding sweetness in both light and dark... and I'm entrigued about the novel this introduces...
Great stuff - it's obviously longer than a haiku but reads something like one to me.
Thanks to everyone so far for your kind comments.
I really like this line: "Joy and sorrow weave through our lives, A thread of darkness and light."
It is so true to life.

Love the poem - those are definitely words to live by!
The wording you choose for this poem works well with the idea you want to bring across to the reader. Thank you so much for sharing.

Oh, I like it! I love the sound of it, and it certainly intrigues me about your story!
Brave is the soul that grabs hold
That line grabbed me!
Oh, I love this! It truly does take courage to find sweet in the bitter!
So true! I love it!
Love the sentiments you wove into the poem.
That is beautiful! So glad you shared it:)
Thought provoking. The sort of prose that keeps you thinking long after you have read it.
Ah, such true and poignant words you have written. Such soul, hope, and confidence in the happiness life will bring if only we'll let it! Bravo!
contrast, opposition, conflict
we use one to make it through the other...nicely chosen words
Glad I found you through the blogfest! This is a very moving poem that touches on life's ups and downs. Julie
Oooh, I read this one again and again because it really kept me guessing. Intriguing word choices, and a beautiful message! Nicely done!
Absolutely love the message in this poem. Not too wordy--right to the point.
Angie, I love it.
Thanks so much for participating. If there was someone I could count on to support me in my strange ideas it's you! I'm SO glad I found you so early so we could share this journey together!
Really like this, reminds me of an old Sugarcubes song--life's both sweet and sour.
I can see/feel it in my mind's eye. Thanks!
Wow...this is powerful! Great work!!

Love this poem! Great job!
Gorgeous poem, I especially love the "Entwined in conflicting embrace" line. Well done!
I especially love the last two lines.
Wonderful!!!
Very nice poem Angie! Many things in life are twinged with both joy and sorrow..very nicely said! Hasn't this fest been a blast?!
What I find interesting about this poem is the image of holding light and darkness like a tangible object. Every time I imagine reaching for either strand, my fingers go right through it.
Love it. Great imagery, plus I glean something new each time I read it.
I loved it too! The part about finding sweetness in both is beautiful! Great job!:D
Love the opposites in this. Beautiful.
i dont remember this, its wonderful!
